CEREC stands for “chairside economical restoration of esthetic ceramics.” While this may sound somewhat complicated, it simply means that we can make your dental crown or bridge right here in-office. While many other dental practices rely on outside dental labs to create their restorations, we can design, create, and place your permanent crown or bridge in as little as a single appointment.
How Does CEREC Work?
Essentially, CEREC dental crowns and bridges are created and placed just like traditional options are. The main factor separating the two is the time the process takes. Instead of sending information to an outside dental lab and waiting for the permanent restoration to be created, everything is done right here in our office.
Once we’ve prepared your teeth, we’ll take impressions of the area and send them to our chairside computer monitors. From there, we’ll design your crown or bridge to meet your exact specifications and send the information to our in-office milling machine. You’ll be free to sit back and relax while your all-ceramic restoration is being created. Then, before you know it, we’ll be ready to bond your brand-new, custom-made crown or bridge into place. In practically every case this can be done in a single day, saving you the time and hassle of scheduling multiple appointments and wearing a temporary restoration for weeks.
